AMEND mitral repair implant is an innovative D-shaped ring with unique anchoring capabilities that emulates the current gold-standard annuloplasty rings used in open-heart surgery. It is delivered into the mitral annulus in a transcatheter transeptal procedure. The implant emerges from the catheter in a linear form and transforms into a closed D-shape ring, in the heart’s left atrium.

The AMEND ring is implanted in a much shorter and simpler procedure than other minimally-invasive annuloplasty solutions thanks to Valcare’s patented anchoring system that attaches to the annulus in four different zones.

During the implantation procedure, the anterior-posterior dimension is reduced to improve leaflet coaptation, thus significantly reducing, and potentially eliminating, mitral regurgitation.
