SHY cup

The impacted SHY® acetabular system is a system designed to provide a wide range of products from the point of view of the acetabular shell (impacted and impacted with pegs) and the insert (UHMWPE and ceramic).

The impacted SHY ® cup has a peripheral groove system on its half-core that allows to provide the cup in a zone of thickness whose purpose is to provide both an optimal clamping effect when implanted.

In turn the SHY ® cup has a reinforcement system in the event that the surgeon sees fit well by introducing titanium screws (Ti6Al4V) low profile.

The Modular Acetabular System or S.H.Y. Cup from Surgival is made up of the following subcomponents:

The hemispheric cup is made from titanium (Ti6Al4V). Primary attachment is

provided by the ridged section around the middle, for more efficient attachment, and Ø 6.5 mm low profile titanium screws.

For secondary attachment, this cup is coated in titanium plasma spray to

increase the roughness and contact surface of the dome. Finally, it is covered

with a complete coating of Hydroxyapatite (HA), to foster the osteoinduction

and osseointegration of the bone on the treated surface.

1. The top hole provides a viewing point to ascertain contact between the implant and the bone.

2. The three holes enable additional attachments to be made to the primary attachment using Ø 6.5 mm low profile titanium screws, to be used when the surgeon

determines that an acceptable level of ‘pressfit’ stability has not been achieved.

3. The peripheral slots around the base perform various functions:

a) Provide primary ‘pressfit’ stability by increasing the diameter of the base.
